In our Sunday morning sermon series in the book of Psalms we recently heard David say in Psalm 9:2,
"I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High."
Singing and music are an important part of our life together at St Luke's Church (you can see one of our big sing videos from lockdown here). When we sing it is one way we are able to express our love of God with all your heart, soul, and strength, all at the same time.
Over the next few weeks we are going to be running three music nights. These will be in St Luke's Church at 7:30-9:00pm on Tuesday 9th August, Wednesday 17th August, and Thursday 1st September.
These evenings are for anyone of any age who:
loves worshipping Jesus by singing or playing music
plays an instrument or sings to a reasonable level (even if it's been a long time)
is in the band on a Sunday, has been in the band in the past, has never played in the bad before
would like to have some fun in an informal setting playing and singing with others
would like to learn how to use our sound system
Coming along doesn't mean you'll suddenly be in the band on a Sunday but it might be the start of a conversation. Alternatively, it might just be an opportunity to come and enjoy some time playing and singing together, and growing in confidence in the gifts that God has given to you.
Let us know if you're coming along (music@thurnbychurch.com) and we can make sure we have everything you need.
