Bishop's Lent Appeal 2024 - Baca

A photo of Baca's work to highlight the Bishop of Leicester's Lent Appeal 2024

This year the Bishop of Leicester’s Lent appeal for 2024 is in support of Baca.

Baca is a charity providing accommodation and therapeutic care for young people seeking refuge in the UK, without families. Baca runs 11 homes in Loughborough with capacity for 39 young people, and two homes in Cambridge.

We’d love to get behind the Bishop’s Lent Appeal by raising awareness of the work of Baca and to offer ways of being able support their work financially.

About Baca

The vision for the charity came from a local church after child refugees, who were being housed in unsafe environments, started coming to its youth group. Since opening a house to provide secure accommodation for those young people, Baca’s service has grown and developed so that it can provide young people seeking refuge with the holistic support they need to lead a happy and fulfilling life.

You can find out more by heading to There is also the opportunity to join a webinar on Tuesday 12th March, 7:45pm with Jimmy Zachariah, CEO of Baca and others from across the diocese to hear about ways we can play our part in supporting refugees and asylum-seekers. You can register to attend here.

Supporting Baca

£5 could equip new arrivals at Baca College with education starter packs

£13 could provide an hour of learning for all child refugees studying at Baca College

£50 could cover the setup costs for a new arrival’s room

If you would like to make a donation to the Bishop’s Lent appeal directly you can do so online here.

We will also be offering an opportunity to make a donation through St Luke’s Church on Sunday 25th February when the money given during our services on that Sunday will be directed to Baca.
