HUB Update - October 2022

Work on the HUB continues behind the scenes and there were a number of significant moments last month.

In September we went out to tender which means asking various building contractors to quote for the work of building the HUB. We give thanks to go for getting to this stage, for the drawings and designs we have and the planning permission that has been granted. We are praying for a building contractor who will not just build a brilliant building but will be excited about the vision for the HUB. You can get a bit more of a feel and flavour of what the HUB will be like once it is built in the fly through video below.

With the cost of materials increasing rapidly, the cost of building the HUB has increased and we are seeking ways to bridge the gap. At the end of September an application to Harborough District Council for Section 106 grant money was successful. We were awarded £135,000 which is a big step in bridging the funding gap. We give thanks to God for this grant and continue to pray to God for the provision of the rest of the finances. The Leicester Mercury reported on the story recently which can you read here.

Lizzie Berry is currently stepping into her new role as Schools and Community Outreach Minister. Her role is a key one as the HUB is so much more than a building, it is about what will happen in that building. The vision for the HUB is that it will be a place of welcome and community, of help and hope for all. Lizzie's role will help us begin to discern some of the projects that will be able to run through the HUB. At the same time we are beginning to pray for the right person to be identified to be the HUB manager.
